About Us

Hi we are Walter and Betsy Shipman, the proud owners of S& S Chem-Dry. We are a cleaning company that offers carpet & area rug cleaning, upholstery cleaning, tile & grout cleaning and granite counter top renewal. We have been servicing the south central cook and north eastern will counties for over 25 years. Yes, that’s a lot of cleaning! We hope to continue offering a quality service for many more years to come.

Our history

In 1988 Walter was in high school and had a part time job for a local carpet cleaning company. He realized this was a job he could see himself making a career out of. When he graduated he bought a Chem-Dry franchise with the help of his father. Ten years later we meet on a cruise and were married in 2000. That year Betsy stepped in to help out Walter’s dad in the office. Since then we have purchased two more Chem-Dry franchises, had three kids and moved to New Lenox. We enjoy living in the community that we service.

The thing we enjoy most about our business, are the people that we get to meet and talk to everyday. They are the reason we do what we do. We love to see the smile on some ones face when they open the door and are excited that we are there for a cleaning. Its satisfying to get a call from a customer to hear how happy they are with the way a cleaning turned out. Getting to know our customers is the rewarding part of our job. We love hearing about their families, a new pet, their sons graduation or their daughters wedding. We have customers that we have been cleaning for many many years. In fact we still clean Walter’s very first customer from back in 1989!
